What we decide to wear running is pretty much weather dependent and will have a lot to do with our performance and stamina on our runs. The last thing you want is to be too hot or too cold, and dressing the part is important for getting the most you can out of your workout.
In the summer months, what to wear is pretty straightforward, but you’ve got to remember to wear clothes that are lightweight and keep you cool. It’s smart to find fabrics that wick away sweat and dry quickly. Technology in running clothes has come a long way, and fabrics such as synthetic polyester blends are increasing in popularity for those that value the benefits they offer for runners who sweat.
Shorts and tanks are great for the summer months, but what about when the temperature drops? In the winter months be sure to layer, layer, layer before a run. Rather than wearing cotton sweatshirts that will make you colder when sweat dries, try layering with the many lightweight poly-blend layers that are designed to keep you warm and dry in cooler temperatures. Running clothes are designed thin to optimize performance, and layering up before a run when it’s cold outside is super easy to do without adding excess bulk and unwanted weight. In the super cold months, be sure to wear a hat as 70% of your body heat is lost through your head.
Wearing the right clothes for your run will open up a whole new world and offer you more comfort so you may further enjoy your workout. Finding the right clothes for running is easy and there are a bunch of different styles that are sure to meet your own personal taste. So many people “dress” for their workouts these days and the different clothes specifically designed for running will have you hitting the pavement (in style) in no time.
